Troubleshooting

Voice Follow-up did not open

Check the feature setting, integration support, completion event, and live session.

Voice Follow-up depends on a completion event and a session that can receive the reply.

  1. Confirm that Voice Follow-up is enabled in Agent Approve settings.
  2. Open the agent from the Agents tab and confirm its own Voice Follow-up control is not set to Off.
  3. Confirm that your integration supports follow-up messages.
  4. Keep the coding-agent session open until the follow-up returns.
  5. Test from an interactive session, not a one-shot command.
  6. Keep Agent Approve open once to separate an in-app issue from a push notification issue.

For Hermes, Mobile Q&A does not control this feature. Voice Follow-up works only with the classic interactive CLI. It cannot return a message to a gateway session, the desktop app or hermes dashboard, hermes chat -q, --oneshot, a cron job, or a Kanban worker. Use the original gateway channel to continue a gateway conversation.

The Hermes plugin reports whether the finished session can accept a reply, so these modes send an Agent Completion notification rather than a follow-up prompt, and so does any session the plugin cannot positively identify as an interactive CLI. If a prompt did open but your reply never becomes the next turn, check the debug log for accepted=False. Approvals and activity monitoring are not affected by this follow-up limitation.

If the native agent instead looks busy for five minutes after it finished, see The agent waits after finishing.

If these checks do not explain the failure, trace the stop hook in the debug log and contact Support with a short redacted excerpt.
