Approval Mode and Observe Mode

The setup mode decides whether Agent Approve can pause supported actions for your decision.

The installer's Recommended setup selects Approval Mode. Choose Customize options if you want Observe Mode or need to review the related privacy and fallback settings before pairing.

Approval Mode

Approval Mode installs approval hooks for the integrations you select. Agent Approve can apply your policies and ask you to approve or deny a request on your iPhone or Apple Watch.

Choose Approval Mode when you want commands to wait for a policy decision or a manual response.

Observe Mode

Observe Mode records supported agent activity without installing approval hooks. It requires end-to-end encryption, which the installer enables automatically.

Choose Observe Mode when the agent already runs inside a sandbox or another controlled environment and you only want to monitor its activity. This can be useful for remote or autonomous agents whose actions do not need Agent Approve policy decisions.

Feature coverage still depends on which events the integration reports.

Change modes

Run the installer again:

npx agentapprove install

Choose the new setup mode and review the selected integrations before the installer applies changes. Then follow Verify your setup again.
